With the growing Coronavirus cases, the World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended countries to foster future plans for country-wide lockdown, along with other mandatory restrictions to curb the surging cases.
In a conference held earlier this week, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus cited examples of Italy and Spain in implementing a radical public health strategy to contain the widely spread pandemic. Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, head of the WHO’s emerging diseases and zoonosis unit said that some countries not having better systems in place. Reinstating lockdowns plans can prevent the spread, she added.
