The WHO officials are currently reviewing new evidence which suggests that the possibility of air transmission of the COVID-19 viruses. WHO had earlier declared that the virus is transmitted only through the large respiratory, usually during coughing or sneezing. The organization's need to look into the air-borne transmission of the virus comes after 239 scientists from across the 32 countries wrote an open letter.
Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, head of the WHO’s emerging diseases and zoonosis unit said, "We have been talking about the possibility of airborne transmission, aerosol transmission, as one of the modes of transmission of Covid-19 as well as droplets.”
